I believe both parties are hitting good points. I agree with Charlie in that college is a scam in today's society. I also agree with her in the sense of allowing the student to choose what they decide to study not having to base it off of religious beliefs. I believe it shouldn't fall on the taxpayers to foot the bill. I believe this is the reason why college has become so expensive. If students had to pay for college out of pocket, I feel that they would be more inclined to choose a more direct path to achieve their goals. Which would force colleges to tailor their curriculum instead of forcing students to take unnecessary courses to complete their degree. However, I know their are plenty of students who would choose to broaden their horizons with other studies to learn more than what their degree requires. Based on that, colleges would charge more or less depending on what is in demand. Students should be setting the tone in their college path and not the colleges forcing students to pay for classes that aren't need to profit from them. I simply believe that's theft.
